Mexico Trip

Catholic Church in Cd. Victoria Here are the details everyone's been waiting for! First, let me say, that the weekend did not go as I planned and God taught me a valuable lesson about letting Him have control of my life! :-) The town we planned to look at, we didn't even go to! But let me start from the beginning. :-) We got over the border fine around 4:30, a lot earlier than we planned. Jonathan was able to get off work a few hours early due to his tremendous amount of overtime lately. :-) We arrived in Cd. Victoria around 8PM or so & found a wonderful hotel for $46 a night!! :-) It was probably the best hotel I've ever stayed in, except where we stayed for our honeymoon. The bed was huge! :-) And the towels & pillowcases were embroidered with the hotel name and logo. Kylie was able to make friends with all the employees there. Her & I took a walk one day around the motel and she was talking to the workers. She would say "Hi" a bunch of times. And they would talk back to her. Then when we were walking away, she kept saying 'bye!"

Our motel room ~ we had our own garage too :-)We planned to go to Nuevo Padilla in the morning, but decided to go visit the pastor of the church & his family first. While there, we were severed a great breakfast of pancakes! :-) And also got to talking to them about another place, that we 'fell in love with' the first time we went though it. Its up the mountain about 30 minutes outside of the city.

The entrance to the town of JaumaveThe town of Jaumave. Its a decent size town with several villages about 10-15 minutes away. We found about 4 churches in the town already, but one is the Catholic church & another is a Jehovah's Witness. Bro. Domingo told us that he had gone to some of the villages a while ago and passed out tracks and talked with some of the people. They were very receptive to his being there & loved the tracts. As far as he knew there was not any churches in the villages. Our plan now is to go back next month (as long as we have the money) and visit the villages and talk to the people there. We ran out of time on Saturday to do anything else but drive though Jaumave. We were on the Mexican time schedule! Sunday we attended church in Cd. Victoria. Bro. Domingo bought us a good message about the foundations of the family. Sis. Gabi made us a wonderful lunch of Fried Chicken, Rice & Salad. We felt truly welcome in their home. Over all it was a good, relaxing weekend. Bro. Domingo & Sis. GabiTheir daughter, Elli (holding Kylie) and their other daughter & her new husband (playing with Korey) They also have another son, but he didn't want his picture taken!

Renee,
I so loved the pics and the report of your weekend. That hotel looks beautiful. We'll have to get more details on that place as it might come in handy on some of our trips out.
Marc and I will be praying for you and your ministry. I know God has a definite place where He wants to use your dedicated and committed surrender to Him. Just know you have friends in Salamanca and our house is yours anytime you're here!
