Korey's haircut

Yes, Korey got his first haircut last night! We weren't gonna do it until he was older, but he got a big bald spot from where his head rubs the carseat & when he sleeps. There was just a little bit on the back of his neck & it was not looking very becoming to a 3 month old boy! So, Jonathan, as the skilled barber, along with his sidekick, Jeremy did the deed last night. I almost made them not do it because there wasn't enough battery in the camera to take pictures! But I got one or so & then I put them on the charger for a few minutes & was able to get a few more! :-) BTW, he looks really cute now!!

The weekend!

The moutain road

Hi! I'm finally getting around the posting these pictures! We had a great weekend! After a rough start Wednesday & Thursday, everything else went really smooth! We didn't leave the border until 10AM, because we had a lot of trouble Wednesday night with the truck, Jonathan was up til about 1AM getting everything fixed & then we needed to go to Home Depot before we left to pick up somethings John Dykes needed down there. So, we got up around 7:30 and got all our errands done. We were able to stop in Cd. Victoria to visit Grandma Carmen! She is the neighbour lady where Jonathan lived in Cd. Victoria. She was like their grandma, her husband was a 3 star General in the Mexican Army. She fell in love with Kylie!!! And Kylie fell in love with her! We only stayed a little while & I forgot to take pictures. :-( We arrived at Sankey's house around 11PM! It was a long day but for all the stops we made, it was pretty good time & an uneventful trip. The rest of the days were filled with business! It was fun to visit & get to know the Sankeys better. They are an awesome family & really working hard to fulfill the call God has given them. Check out Melodie's blog for more pictures from the weekend. We got back to the U.S. at 12:30AM! I love being in Mexico & I'm ready to go back soon, but there's nothing like the feeling of seeing that American flag flying over the inspection station!! We arrived at our house around 1:30 to find some of the electrical outlets not working. (the office, the living room AC and the washer) We were up til 3AM trying to find the problem. Jonathan finally found it - outside at the meter base. This is not the first time we've had problems with the electric here. Several other times its about caught on fire. We are SO THANKFUL to God for His protection! We were able to get it fixed yesterday & everything should be good as new now. The wire from the breaker box outside to our meter was melted! The main reason is because the old wire was too thin. Jonathan replaced it with thicker wire & it should be able to handle the current now. Well, I need to get back to cleaning & laundry! Helping to sweep!

Kylie eating 'sweaty tacos'! She loved them! Thanks Bro. John!

Mexico Trip

Hi! This is probably the last time I'll be posting until next week. We are planning to leave for Mexico tomorrow morning at 5 AM. The HIM/ Bible Methodist building needs some more work done to it before IHC in October & Jonathan was able to get a few days off this week to go & help. We're pretty excited! This is the first time we've been able to take a trip in over a year. We went yesterday & got all the paper work for ourselves & the truck without any problems. We're also praying that if it's HIS will, that God will lead us somewhere on this trip where He'd like us to work. Right now though, our truck needs God's touch! I went to go to town today to do my great list of errands & it wouldn't start. I thought it was just the battery, but its something more. So, I'm here! :-) We're hoping its not something big, like the fuel pump ($150), or else that puts a big dent in our plans! But God knows all about it & we're trusting Him.

Other random happenings this week ~ mostly about Kylie, she's the only one around here with adventure in her life at the moment!
  • Kylie got her hand caught in a mouse trap. She cried but wasn't hurt.
  • Korey is 3 months old today!
  • Kylie locked us out of the house yesterday, thankfully Jonathan had keys to open the door. We walked in & she said 'HI!' in her darling southern accent.
  • Kylie came out to the kitchen this morning & looked in the crate I was packing & said, "WOW"!
  • Korey got his first pair of new Sunday shoes!
  • Kylie played in the mud puddles outside last night & also got to eat a Popsicle by herself!

Well, that about wraps up my week so far! Look for lots of pictures & updates next week!!

Sorry girls....

you have to wait another 18 years to marry my handsome son!

I was playing dress up today to see what clothes fit him in the next size, these are 3-6 and still are a little big but I couldn't resist a picture. Kylie wouldn't be still for me - that's why she didn't get her picture taken!

I really need to get off here - I have supper to make, clothes to iron for tomorrow & we have to go to Wal-Mart & practice for a speical in the morning! Its gonna be a long night! Gotta run - Korey just threw up all over his outfit that I had him ready to go to town in!!!

I can pray

I've been thinking alot lately about my calling that God has given me, and the Devil has been trying to discourage me that I'm not doing any good to anyone. Really, my day consists of feeding babies, changing diapers, laundry, cleaning, cooking and the list goes on. And the cycle just keeps going! But we've been hearing this song on the radio & it spoke so clear to me, that the most important thing you do in ministry, I CAN DO, that is pray!
I thought I'd share the words with you, maybe it will help someone else too. Also, if you visit the Dove Brothers website, you should be able to hear the song.

I Can Pray

Verse 1 -
You say I'm not able, I'm too young or I'm too old.
I can't sing or I can't teach, and no title do I hold.
Lord what can I do? For I want to do my part,
and I want to help the hurting;
with all of my heart.

can pray! Until the walls come down,
Til there's healing all around.
That's somethin' I can do.
In my secret place, calling on your name,
That's somethin' I can do.
I can pray.

Verse 2 -
My family shows no interest, my child has gone so far.
Though I try my best to reach them, their hearts just seem so hard.
Lord what can I do, to help bring them back to you?
For my family's lost and dying,
and my words do not get though.

But I can pray! Until the walls come down.
Til there's healing all around.
That's somethin' I can do,
I can pray in my secret place,
calling on your name.
That's somethin' I can do,
I can pray.

You may not be a preacher.
You may not be a Sunday School teacher.
You may not be able to sing.
But friend, there's somethin' you can do,
you can pray, in your secret place,
calling on His name;
that's somethin' you can do;
you can pray.
I can pray. We can pray.
I know you hear us Lord when we pray.
We will pray.
I will pray.
Will you pray??

Korey

Becka requested some new pictures of Korey & I guess I haven't put any new ones on here for awhile of him. So, here ya' go! Its hard to believe that next Wednesday he'll be 3 months old already! Time goes so fast! He's a great baby, except for not sleeping though the night yet! I even tried giving him some baby cereal before bed last week & he was still up every 3-5 hours! He did like it though, when I would feed it to him, he'd laugh!

Jonathan's promotion!

I was going to wait until I had a picture of him in his uniform, but I'll add that later! Jonathan is now the supervisor at Absolute EMS. He is happy and sad about it, but I know he'll do a great job! Its a lot of paper work, and that is something that he does not enjoy but I know God is going to help him. He's also in charge of dealing with the state of Texas in getting the licensing renewed on the company and the units. Its a big responsibility! Please help me pray for him that he will learn quickly and do a great job to the Glory of God!

Kylie's Kayak Adventures!

Hi! We had another great weekend! Friday evening we went to the Island again. Jeremy finally bought a kayak. (For those of you who know him, he's been talking about buying a kayak for a LONG TIME!) Anyway, they had a great time with it ~ Jonathan took Kylie out on it & like always she loved it! Even when they got dumped over!! When it was on shore this is what she kept doing!! She's learning more words every day. She said 'puppy' this morning and always say "Korey" now! She pointed to our family picture on my table yesterday and said 'dada...drama (grandma). She finally said "memy" (Jeremy) this weekend too! Sorry to you other uncles -- I try to get her to say your names too, but right now you arn't special enough! :-) Don't feel too bad, she don't say 'momma' very much either! Its 'dadda' all the way!! Korey figured out he has hands this weekend too! Its pretty funny to watch him. He'll just sit and look at them while he's playing with his hands! He always smiles & laughs at us now when he sees us or we talk to him! Ok, I gotta go!! Today is the laundry/cleaning day!! (I'm on my lunch break! ~ LOL!)

My Greatest Claim to Fame

I read in a book once that you should always say that about your spouse. Well, I've been thinking about that alot lately. I'm always posting about the kids, so this post is about my 'greatest claim to fame'!

First, I want to thank him for marrying me. It's not always easy living with me I'm sure! Some days I can't stand living with myself! Where we've not always been wealthy, (still are not) but he's always provided for us! I have a roof over my head & a vehicle to drive (2 if I would take the time to learn to drive the 4-Runner)! We all have clothes to wear & food to eat! And when I know he really desires to be in Mexico, he's here working to take care of his family! I really appreciate that. I know God will honor that some day in His time & allow us to be in Mexico. I gotta tell ya too, my husband looks great in his job right now, but he looks best telling someone about Jesus.
I love you, Jonathan, with my whole heart! Thanks for being 'my greatest claim to fame!'

The beach!!!!!!

Yesterday was another interesting day! :-) Jeremy came over around lunch time & we sat here wondering what to do - when someone suggested going to the beach!!! We all agreed very quickly, so started to get ready to go. When we got to the causeway we could tell there was not alot of people around, so I asked Jonathan if we could try the 'public' beach ( where they have showers & bathrooms!), & he agreed! It was awesome! The beach was nicer than the other area & the water was clearer because of the jetties! They were diving to find shells & found to big ones!!
Kylie's love for water is growing, so Jonathan bought her this baby inter tub thing & took her out in the waves! He said she was having so much fun! They were jumping waves and she would say 'wow'! When he brought her in close to the shore, & tried to get her to come play in the sand, and she kept saying, 'no, no, no'!
Kylie & Daddy having LOTS of fun!!!!
Jeremy also buried her in the sand! She loved it. We tried to get her to come out & she'd go, 'augg'! She finally got out, I can't remember if he helped her or she did it on her own, but then she turned around to get up & put her face in the sand!
We ended the evening by eating at the Pirates Landing restaurant. We usually go to this Mexican/Seafood place but it was closed & we were all hungry for more than 'whataburger'. It was good food, but I did feel a little under dressed. That pretty much sums up the day! We got home around 10:30-11:00 I think & went to bed because Jonathan had to be at work at 5AM again today! A crab we found on the roadKylie & Tio Jeremy outside Pirates LandingAsleep after a long day of play!

(8:30PM) "Look Korey, this is how the wheel turns"

The Zoo

Yesterday, we took the kids to the zoo in Brownsville, finally!!! It was a fun day! We got half way though it & it started raining. We didn't have anything else to do - so we sat under a 'shelter' (one made of straw that leaked) and waited it out. It cleared up some and then started to rain again, but it was still fun! Kylie loved it!! The petting zoo area was her favorite I think. Jonathan took her in because you were not allowed to take strollers, so I stayed with Korey. We didn't get any good pics of her because she kept moving around so much. She went up to the goats & said 'awe' and then petted it. It was funny. Her other favorite thing was monkeys! (We all enjoyed them!!) She would pound on the glass & laugh!!! It was too dark in that area to take pictures, we tried but when I put them on the computer they are really dark. Korey did really good too, he slept most of the time! We ended up being there around 6 hours! Petting the goats!Checkin' out the birds!

Just chillin'
